Atletico Madrid forward Florent Sinama-Pongolle has stressed that they are not suffering from low confidence.

His comments come following the criticism Los Colchoneros received due to their recent poor performances.

Speaking to Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Pongolle said: "We're not worried, because we have confidence in our work.

"We must continue with our heads up and believe in our ability."

The 24-year-old is confident that over time his side are able to climb up the Primera Liga table.

"Things can change very quickly in football. There is a difference in points between us and the [league] leaders at the moment, but we can sort that out within a few games.

"We have dropped a few points, but the league is very long and the results will be taken at the end," Pongolle explained.

The France international has also urged his teammates to step up when called upon by the club.

"The squad isn't very big, but we have a lot of quality. It would be pointless if we had a big squad who couldn't reach the targets that this team has set.

"Everyone must take their chance and be ready when the boss needs them," Pongolle concluded.
