Real Mallorca vs Tenerife Preview
Tenerife's Daniel Kome is hoping his return to the ONO Estadi proves more enjoyable than the time he spent there as a Real Mallorca player.
Kome is back in Mallorca tomorrow for the third game of the Primera Division season.
The Cameroon international moved there in 2006 but spent only half a season with the club after struggling to make the first team.
However, he insists he is looking forward to returning to the Balearic Islands.
"It's always a pleasure to return," he said. "I am very grateful to that club, even though it is true that I didn't play many games.
"I'm returning there with desire to do well."
Tenerife secured a first win of the season last weekend with a 2-1 success at home to Osasuna.
They were somewhat lucky to see the visitors reduced to 10 men, and later nine, but took full advantage to move into mid-table.
And Kome is hoping that will give them the confidence they need to bring the three points back to the Canary Islands.
"In the Primera Division all your opponents are difficult," he added. "And Mallorca are on a good run.
"But we have also just won and we want to continue on the path of victories.
"We're going there with the aim of picking up the three points for ourselves.
"We are a humble team but last year we showed that we play well with the ball. We're not going to change our style because we achieved promotion."
Kome has declared himself fully fit and ready to play if selected after problems with his right knee.
Juanlu Hens remains sidelined, but Jose Antonio Culebras is available again after injury and may feature.
Mallorca will be hopeful of continuing their good start to the season when they welcome the newly-promoted outfit.
They have been notoriously slow starters in recent seasons and with the club apparently in turmoil over the summer with problems off the pitch, the omens were not good ahead of this campaign.
However, Mallorca have started the season with two excellent results; beating Xerez on the opening weekend and picking up a creditable point at Villarreal in the second round of matches.
And coach Gregorio Manzano hopes to continue that tomorrow.
"A new season has begun with two good results which have given us, right from the start, excitement and hope - something that a little time ago was far from all our minds because of what happened in pre-season," he wrote on www.rcdmallorca.es.
"The point picked up at Villarreal has reinforced us in the sporting sense and mentally to face the game against Tenerife with the idea of continuing to improve."
Manzano is well aware it will not be a walkover against Tenerife, however, after seeing his side struggle against another promoted side, Xerez
Felipe Mattioni could make his debut after missing out through injury last weekend, but Enrique Corrales looks set to miss out.
