Real Madrid striker, Karin Benzema wants to become one of the best players in the world while playing for the Spanish giants.

The French wonderkid made the move to join Madrid from Ligue 1 side, Lyon in the summer despite strong interest from Manchester United.

He scored in Madrid's 5-0 spanking of Xerez on Sunday and is beginning to form a lethal partnership with Raul at the club.

Speaking on the club's official website, Benzema said: "I would like to win the Champions League with Real Madrid,

"Someday I hope that I can become one of the best players in the world, but to do this I know that I will have to work hard."

Benzema went on to elaborate on how his big-money move has not changed his life in any way.

"I have settled well in Madrid. I am still living in a hotel, but it has not been difficult for me.

"When I return to Lyon, it has not changed at all for me. I continue to have the same friendships and habits. In Madrid I do not have many friends because I have only been here a very short time, and I only know people through the club."

As for being part of such a star-studded line-up at Madrid, Benzema coolly replied: "I feel more pressure here because I know it is necessary to always be fighting for the titles. This year we have a great team and much is expected of us,"
