Getafe vs Valencia Preview
Valencia's Unai Emery has been trying to calm things down after David Villa's post-match outburst at the weekend.
Villa, who scored both goals against Sporting Gijon where he started his career, voiced his frustrations at Valencia's failure to beat Sporting whilst seemingly questioning Emery's tactics in the process.
The Spain international has since apologised for his comments, saying: "I'm sorry I upset anyone with what I said.
"It was in the heat of the moment and, like everyone, I was very annoyed for having lost two points.
"I have to clarify that these words were directed towards the collective and not to any individual."
Speaking ahead of tomorrow's trip to Getafe, Emery was keen not to let the issue drag on any further.
"The business regarding Villa is a matter that has been discussed and clarified," he said.
"I have total faith in the squad and the path that we are on, in the philosophy of this team and the players. It's a chapter that is totally closed."
Villa's annoyance stemmed from the fact that Valencia failed to win despite leading 2-1 with four minutes to go against a side that had been playing with 10 men since the 23rd minute.
The result saw Valencia fail to maintain their 100% start to the season and they slipped down to fifth spot, two points behind leading trio Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao.
It was an unexpected setback for Los Che, but Emery is taking it in his stride.
"My responsibility is to take Valencia as far as possible," he said.
"Everyone has their opinions, what I`m focused on is my job. My biggest concern is preparing for tomorrow`s game as well as possible, and for all the other things I have no time.
"They (Getafe) are a good team, they started strongly with a 4-1 away win, and then they were beaten by Barcelona, which isn't surprising, and in Almeria they lost but played a good game.
"They need the win and we are in the same situation. The two teams know each other and we will try to be better than them."
Emery has named a 19-man squad for the trip to the capital, including Ever Banega and Mathieu, who both suffered knocks against Sporting.
Those missing are the injured Ruben Baraja, Angel Dealbert, Manuel Fernandes, Asier Del Horno, Nacho Gonzalez, Vicente and Jordi Alba, who is on Under-21 duty with Spain.
Getafe coach Michel, whose side have dropped down to 12th following their back-to-back defeats, has called up defender Mario Alvarez for the game and omitted David Cortes.
