Jorge Valdano concedes that Lionel Messi will win the Ballon d'Or instead of Cristiano Ronaldo, though he believes his player should win it.

Messi contributed greatly to Barca winning the Primera Liga, Copa del Rey and the Champions League, and was a part of an attacking unit (along with Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto'o) that scored over a hundred goals.

"Each in his way is a star from a higher dimension," Valdano was quoted as saying by AS.

"Messi because he runs with the ball attached to the foot, is very effective in one-on-ones and shoots well with his left leg."
