Jovanovic wanted by Valencia

Standard Liege midfielder Milan Jovanovic is wanted by both Valencia and Aston Villa.

The Spanish side is thought to be watching the Serbian for a while now and Villa are thought to have just joined in the chase.

Speculation in Spain claims that the cash-strapped club are prepared to do a deal in January that would see Jovanovic arrive at the Mestalla for the start of the 2010/11 season.

Valencia vice-president Fernando Gomez has been quoted as saying that Jovanovic is 'a player we are very interested in' while the player himself is open to the idea of a move.

"If interest appears it is normal to study the offer and evaluate all the questions because I want to improve my career," he said.

Jovanovic's contract runs until June 2010 and talks over a new deal have reportedly stalled due to a difference of opinion in terms of wages, meaning Valencia will be able to sign the player for free when his deal eventually expires.
