Guti: Pellegrini made me stay
Real Madrid star Guti has revealed that he would have left the club had it not been for new coach Manuel Pellegrini.
Guti had been contemplating a move away from the Spanish powerhouse this summer only to be persuaded by Pellegrini, who replaced Juande Ramos last June, that he still had a future at the Bernabeu.
"The key to staying was Pellegrini. My main options were to go, but my talk with the coach made me stay," the 32-year-old midfielder told AS.
"Now this year I want to win the European Cup at the Bernabeu, and stay another year.
"At first I thought things were complicated, but in the end I am playing a lot of minutes, and I look forward to continuing like this."
Guti also declared that he fully intends to play beyond 2011 - when his current Real deal comes to an end - but has already ruled out a move to the rough and tumble of England's Premier League.
"I do not know if it is a good age to go to the Premier League. I think at 34 or 35 I should look at another league, something different."
