Valencia boss Unai Emery is willing to give David Villa as much time as possible to recover from injury.

Villa damaged a hamstring against Racing Santander last weekend and is recuperating during a busy period of international fixtures.

Nevertheless, Emery is adamant that he will not pick Villa to play against Barcelona on October 17 unless his prized asset is fully recovered.

"We all want [recovery] times to be shorter, but the important thing is his progress," Emery told Marca.

"From what we have seen this week, everything suggests that he will not be there.

"However, nothing will be decided until the last minute."

Three other casualties, Manuel Fernandes, Jeremy Mathieu and Asier Del Horno are expected, however, to feature in some shape or form against Barca.
