Zidane: I hope Real sign Ribery
Zinedine Zidane has reportedly said on a French radio show that he hopes Real Madrid sign Franck Ribery from Bayern Munich.
Zidane is now serving as an advisor for Los Merengues boss Florentino Perez.
"I hope that Real Madrid can sign Franck - that's my wish," Zidane told RTL in an interview hosted by his former international team-mate Bixente Lizarazu.
"Now the season has started, he should be left to play for Bayern. But hopefully he will be able to sign."
Les Bleus have had their ups and downs in recent time and are now set to go through a play-off in order to secure a World Cup finals berth in South Africa.
However, Zidane is adamant that the French must take a leaf out of Spain's book, who transformed from international bridesmaid into European Champions.
"I can say the same thing with France as I said with Spain - they have always seemed a good team to me, with good players but had never won anything.
"I said one day, Spain will reach the top. Then they won [Euro 2008], and this brought confidence," he concluded.
