Casillas ready for historic bow
After Raul's historic feat on Saturday, Iker Casillas is set to play his 100th game for Real Madrid in Europe.
The Spanish number one is set to line up for Real as they prepare to face Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday.
"It's incredible that I've already played 99 games in Europe," Casillas enthused to Marca.
"Milan, with seven European Cups in their trophy cabinet, represent the greatness of this competition. It will be an honour to play my 100th game against them."
Only Raul, Roberto Carlos, Fernando Hierro, Manuel Sanchis and Guti have achieved this record in Real Madrid's colours, and Casillas is aware of the significance of the milestone.
"To play 100 games in Europe is important," he asserted. "It makes you realise how big the Champions League is and, of course, Real Madrid. If I can achieve this figure, it's thanks to hard work and Real Madrid above all.
"Belonging to this club allows you to reach new heights, so I can only express my gratitude to Real Madrid right now."
As well as being on the verge of a century of European appearances for los Blancos, the stopper is also on 99 international caps for Spain.
