Zamorano: Madrid must be Real patient
Ivan Zamorano believes that patience is the key for Real Madrid as they look to gel into the offensive juggernaut they are capable of becoming.
Zamorano played four seasons at the Bernabeu, between 1992 and 1996, and was back in Madrid for a visit.
The Chilean believes that the squad only needs time to evolve and has dismissed the critics who have slammed Los Merengues' feeble attempts at playing attractive attacking football that they expected with their mega-money signings.
"[Karim] Benzema, [Gonzalo] Higuain, [Cristiano] Ronaldo... they are great players," he told the club's official website. "Many people want Raul to retire and he always ends up being the best on the team. This is a good squad. Fans must be patient.
"Hopefully they play more consistently to reach the end of the year in good form. I don't only think they will win, they will do so by playing well."
Zamorano added that he is proud of Manuel Pellegrini getting the coaching job at the Bernabeu.
"As a Chilean, I am proud that Pellegrini is coaching Real Madrid. He earned it. I know he will have some tough moments, but he will carry Real Madrid far," he continued.
"Injuries have really plagued him and he hasn't been able to put together an 11-man roster that plays on a consistent basis."
