Higuain responds to criticsim
Gonzalo Higuain fired a two-goal salvo against Getafe on the pitch - then proceeded to blast Real Madrid's critics off it.
The Argentine forward snared a second half brace at the Bernabeu to ensure Real collected all three points and alleviated the pressure that was beginning to build on the capital club following a poor run of results.
Speaking to Marca after the game, he commented "It was a tough week, because we had to listen to the meaningless criticisms.
"Today we showed that we will fight for the league. It is in our hands.
"Pending Barcelona's result, we are on top. We are in the Champions League, and there is a return leg in the Cup, although it will be difficult.
"We have the team to win."
Higuain then analyzed the game in further detail, continuing, "It was important to win today."
"It was unfair to be reduced to ten men in the 25th minute, but all is well that ends well.
"On a personal level, it felt good to come back after recovering from injury."
