Sevilla's flying winger, Jesus Navas, wants a spot in Vicente del Bosque's team for next weekend's friendlies.

Navas has been in brilliant form since the start of the season and fans are calling for Del Bosque to call him up and see what he can do with the Spanish national team.

The player himself is expecting to receive a call-up after putting in man-of-the-match performances in recent months.

Having already spoken to Spanish Football Federation's sporting director, Fernando Hierro, Navas issued a statement saying: "As everyone knows I have had a meeting.

"We have been waiting a long time for this moment and I now think I am able to do this,

"I have a great desire to enjoy playing for la Seleccion. I want to do it and I am looking forward to it.

"It is a great time for me to try this. There is a great group of people there and I can go with team-mates that I already know.

"This is a good time for me, but of course the decision is now with the coach."
