Guardiola: I’ve not made demands
Pep Guardiola has stated that he has not demanded the Barcelona board to sign any specific player during the January transfer window.
Barca have been the reported destination for a number of players since the close of the last transfer window, with Javier Mascherano and Robinho leading the line, but the coach is adamant that he has not subjected La Blaugrana to any requests for player in January.
"I did not order any new signing, perhaps I might prompt later when the time comes," he told El Mundo Deportivo.
Guardiola has also dismissed the alleged approach of Manchester City forward Robinho, saying: "nobody has told me anything." He added that any conversation with the striker regarding a transfer would be considered as 'tapping-up' without the expressed consent of the Eastlands outfit.
"It is a hazard to talk to a player with a contract in force."
Meanwhile, Joan Laporta, Barca's president, has reiterated that the club will try to comply with Guardiola's requests should he want to sign Robinho, or any player for that matter.
"If the coach wants to make a signing during the winter, we will make an effort to do so," Laporta said, according to Sport.
