Pellegrini: Ronaldo injury complicated
Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation with Portugal is a complex one for Real Madrid.
Ronaldo is reportedly eager to play for his country, but is injured at the moment. Pellegrini has called for both Real and Portugal to place the winger as the priority in all considerations.
"Everyone is watching their interests, but there is medical criteria that is important to understand," he told AS.
"There is no player in the world who does not want to play with his national team to try to qualify for the World Cup but there is a medical issue and I see it as very complex."
Pellegrini also said that team camaraderie will see Los Blancos through their Copa del Rey match against Alcorcon. The lower league side have a 4-0 advantage going into the second leg but Pellegrini believes his men can reverse the tide.
"It is always hard overturn a 4-0 deficit but that does not mean that we do not have spirit, belief and confidence. The spirit of the team will turn around the tie and that has to be reflected in the football, rather than words," Pellegrini noted.
