Former Real Madrid star Luis Figo believes Cristiano Ronaldo has what it takes to become a legend at the Bernabeu.

Figo, who joined Madrid in 2000 from bitter rivals Barcelona, helped Los Merengues to two league titles and the Champions League during his stay and feels that Ronaldo has the talent and skill to emulate his own achievements.

Speaking to reporters in Italy he said "Cristiano will succeed at Real Madrid. He is a fantastic footballer with unique characteristics.

"Obviously, to achieve more triumphs and to have greater prestige, it will depend on the success of the team."

Real have struggled on the pitch whilst the Portugese ace has been sidelined with injury, culminating in an embarrassing Copa del Rey exit at the hands of third division Alcorcon, but will be hopeful of a change in fortunes once the winger returns.

Despite announcing his retirement from football at the end of last season Figo still receives interest from clubs trying to tempt him back.

"As for my retirement, I still receive offers from different parts of the world such as Australia, the Middle East and the United States, but for now I have other priorities," he added.
