Centurion Casillas: My best memory
Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas is set to earn his 100th cap for Spain in the friendly against Argentina later today.
According to Radio Marca and Real's official site, he talked about his best moments with Spain and how their Euro 2008 win has changed public perception of the national team.
"The best memory for me obviously is lifting the Euro 2008 trophy, followed by the semifinal and the penalty shootout against Italy. We knew we would reach the final when we defeated the Italians," he said.
"This is a strong and well-built team. We believe we will perform well in the World Cup. Spaniards are thrilled by the team, something that didn't happen for a very long time. We must nevertheless be cautious. We played well in the Euro 2008 and we were lucky in some games."
Casillas was also asked about Real's recent form.
"At Real Madrid, we should work hard and avoid thinking about the 22 May Champions League final at the Bernabeu. That would be a mistake. We should take things slowly. Our minds are now set on our match against Racing Santander."
