Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido is satisfied with the current crop of players that the club has.

"It is the most competitive Sevilla squad that we have known", he told AS.

However, the president is not averse to opening his chequebook in the January transfer window, if needed. "If the coaches recommend who we buy, it will be done. But at the moment they are saying no."

Sevilla's quality is underlined by the fact that three of the club's players could start in the friendly for Spain against Argentina. Diego Perotti, Alvaro Negredo and Jesus Navas are all contenders but it is the winger Navas who has come in for most praise from del Nido.

"I anticipated that he was ready to go. Navas is the symbol of the cantera and of Sevilla, so I am tremendously proud."

Also seeking to clear the Seria A rumours swirling around striker Luis Fabiano, Del Nido said that "no team in the world has asked for him."
