Kaka has admitted that he believes Barcelona forward Lionel Messi will be awarded the FIFA World Player of the Year for 2009.

Messi was the runner-up in the last couple of years, coming behind Cristiano Ronaldo last term and Kaka the year before that. Kaka has set his sights on winning the title back next year.

"I think it is probably for Messi won everything with Barcelona last year," the Brazilian playmaker told Marca.

"You must have a good year with your club and national team. Next year it will be chosen from those who do well at the World Cup. My goal is that Brazil finishes as champion and then let's think about individual awards."

The FIFA World Player of the Year will be announced on December 21 with five players having been nominated as finalists from a field of 23.
