Cristiano Ronaldo has thanked Real Madrid supporters who had wished him words of encouragement during his recovery period.

Ronaldo has been out of action for both Real Madrid and Portugal after limping out of the Champions League clash against Marseille in September.

Real suffered a series of bad results during the winger's absence and Ronaldo has since received thousands of messages of support from Madridistas from all over the world.

"Hello and a big thank you to everyone for all your messages of support," he said on realmadrid.com. "They've helped me get through what has been a difficult time for me as I look to fully recover from injury. I'm almost fit again, so I'll see you all soon. Thank you."

Ronaldo is expected to resume normal training on Friday.
