Marcelino: Zaragoza should have won
Real Zaragoza should have collected all three points against Malaga, claimed coach Marcelino.
Zaragoza had taken a well-deserved lead after Ewerthon scored from a penalty but a late goal by Malaga's Ivan Rodriguez.
"When we were 1-0 up we had simple chances which we failed to take. We were worth more than a point and for the majority of the 90 minutes we did enough to win, especially in the closing stages," Marcelina was quoted as saying on Goal.com.
"We're not happy with the draw, but we had the right attitude and adapted to a situation which was not normal. The draw falls short of what we deserved."
Marcelino also defended the players from both sides who were sent off by saying the tense atmosphere of the game was to be blamed.
"It was a product of the nerves, there was some confrontation but I do not think the referee has done wrong. Malaga and ourselves needed to win," he declared.
