Valencia to appeal yellow card

Valencia will be appealing the yellow card that their shot stopper Cesar received in their 3-1 win over Osasuna.

Cesar was booked for time wasting 28 minutes into the game when his side was up by two goals to nothing. However, television replays show that the custodian was pelted by a missile from the home supporters behind his goal.

Referee Velasco Carballo was quick to produce a yellow card when the keeper delayed his kick. The custodian was persistent in his protests but was hushed by his captain Carlos Marchena to avoid a further caution.

Reports from Super Deporte suggest that Valencia will appeal the assessment before the Professional Football League's (LFP) Competition Committee.

With the aid of video evidence, the club will prove that the custodian was struck by an object, probably a coin. Hence, rendering the booking unjustified.
