Atletico Madrid vs Espanyol Preview
Atletico Madrid go into the match against Espanyol with striker Sergio Aguero back and pledging his future to the club.
News reports had suggested that Aguero was set to sign for Chelsea when the transfer window opens in January.
But the former Independiente striker says he has no plans to leave Atletico.
"I'm not moving from Atletico," he said today. "I'm committed to helping the team move out of the situation we are in.
That situation is still worrying for Atletico, despite a change of coach recently.
Quique Sanchez Flores has replaced Abel Resino but Atletico have lost all three league games since and remain in the relegation zone with just seven points from 11 matches.
Sanchez Flores, who recently recovered from about of swine flu, has had a troubled time since joining the Madrid outfit.
He watched in despair as his side conceded a last-minute penalty at Deportivo La Coruna last weekend in a 2-1 defeat.
At least Aguero will be fit after a muscle strain to partner Diego Forlan up front tomorrow.
"At the moment we are not talking about the possibility of relegation, but we know we have to change our situation," Forlan said.
Sanchez Flores believes things will change with a win tomorrow.
"A victory is just the tonic we need," he said.
Raul Garcia and Roberto Jimenez miss the game through injury, while Cleber Santana is suspended after his red card against Deportivo last weekend. Florent Sinama-Pongolle is doubtful.
Espanyol have gone off the boil since a recent seven-match unbeaten run.
A series of impressive results had left the Catalans just outside the European places and the future looked bright for Mauricio Pochettino's side before defeats against Sporting Gijon and Getafe brought them back down to earth.
And striker Jose Callejon admits the club's recent results are worrying.
"We are a bit concerned by our last few results," he said, referring to the team's two league losses and the recent Copa del Rey exit, also at the hands of Getafe.
Coach Pochettino believes his side will not be favourites to triumph at the Vicente Calderon tomorrow, despite Atletico's poor form so far this season.
"We have lost our last two matches and I don't think people will see us as favourites," he said.
"We will go there with the aim of playing a good match, although we know we will be up against a wounded rival and that they will also be out to put in a good performance."
Fernando Marques could return on Sunday but Ferran Corominas remains sidelined and Ivan De La Pena looks set to miss out again as his injury problems continue.
Ben Sahar and Ivan Alonso should shake off knocks in time to play.
