Alves: Ronaldo just fell short

Dani Alves has declared Barcelona’s victory over Real Madrid as a “great win” and added that Cristiano Ronaldo was never close to his 10 or 20 goal target.

Ronaldo cracked a joke in the lead-up to El Claciso that he would relish scoring 10 or 20 goals against Barca and Alves returned the favour in jest.

"It's great to win and also reclaim the lead. They [Madrid] didn't take their chances and we did. In these games we don't care how we win as long as we win," he told AS after the game.

"Cristiano Ronaldo? After much time out it is normal that he was a little lacking in rhythm in the game. He had their best chance in the first half but failed. It's a little short of his desire to score 10 or 20 goals."

The right-back also stressed that it is La Blaugrana's priority to get Lionel Messi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic firing on all cylinders soon.

"Ibrahimovic and Messi are two very important players for us and they need to be right a hundred percent as soon as possible," he stated.
