Sergio Ramos has told the press that Real Madrid were better than their 1-0 loss to Barcelona and should have deserved more than a defeat.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's goal early in the second half was just enough for Barca to edge Real out as they gained maximum points from El Clasico.

"Real Madrid has done more than Barcelona, especially in the first half. After so much work and sacrifice, we have come away with a defeat when we deserved more," he told the Spanish press after the game.

"In the first half we found the space to do damage to Barca, the pity was that we didn't take our chances. We respect the views but we ignore any flattery or the criticism we receive."

Ramos added that his team can take home a moral victory after their high-level display at the Nou Camp.

"Despite the fact that we lost we played well. We're proud of the way we played at Camp Nou and will go with our heads held high," he said.
