Pepe's bid to extend his contract at Real Madrid has been postponed by the club until 2010.

It has been reported that the club prefer the Portugese defender to concentrate on his football and has told his agent to wait until next year.

Pepe's deal expires in 2012 and Real management are determined to keep hold of the Portugal defender.

However, they have suspended talks while Real struggle to find consistency under coach Manuel Pellegrini.
