Benzema not happy with part-time role

Karim Benzema is not happy to be consigned to the Real Madrid bench but he is prepared to wait for his first-team chance.

Benzema was part of the blockbuster spending spree by club president Florentino Prez which saw the arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Xabi Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa to the Bernabeu. But it is the form of Gonzalo Higuain that is keeping Benzema out.

Talking to French newspaper L'Equipe, he is 'disappointed' with his lack of first-team chances at Real since his move from Lyon in the summer.

“Yes, you can say I'm disappointed because I am. But it is something that is part of the job. Things are well, I'm at a great club and learning," he told L'Equipe.

Benzema was given 20 minutes of playing time for Real after he came on for Kaka during their La Liga game against Real Mallorca on the weekend.

Despite his lack of opportunities, the €35 million striker remains confident “convince the coaching staff and earn their trust,” adding, “I will give everything to get myself a place (in the team).”
