Now Real Madrid want Rooney
Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
The England international's representatives have reportedly been in touch with other clubs this week in an attempt to get Manchester United to improve his contract.
News of Rooney's desire for a better deal has put Real on red alert and the Spanish giants have now employed football super-agent Pini Zahavi, the man behind Roman Abramovich's arrival at Chelsea, in a bid to bring the 24-year-old ace to the Bernabeu.
Real president Florentino Perez enticed Rooney's former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo to the club last summer, and a source close to the European powerhouse has claimed that Perez will not settle until he gets his man.
"Zahavi has been told to do all he can to try to bring Rooney to the Bernabeu," the Madrid source told The Sun newspaper.
The club are confident a deal can be done."
The latest revelation comes only days after it was reported that Barclona are also tracking the former Everton forward.
British tabloid News of the World recently claimed that Barca want to make Rooney the most expensive player in the world courtesy of a proposed €95 million offer.
It is believed Pep Guardiola's side are looking for a versatile striker and having seen Rooney up-close in the Champions League final last season, they believe the Englishman fits the bill perfectly.
