Copa del Rey Wednesday Preview

Manolo Jimenez insists Sevilla's progression to the last four of the Copa del Rey is not a foregone conclusion.

This despite his side holding a 3-0 lead going into the second leg of their quarter final against Deportivo La Coruna.

Goals from Alvaro Negredo and a quickfire double from Renato and Jesus Navas earned a victory that sees Sevilla enter the second leg as hot favourites.

Jimenez, though, insists the team cannot yet relax.

He told www.sevillafc.es: "We will put out a very competitive team and the team that is chosen must put in maximum effort.

"We have to concentrate on a football game and we have to respect a great rival. Then we can relax.

"It is very important that in the last half-hour mark the tie is resolved.

"We must not be complacent and I will not allow it."

He added: "I want to be third in the league and win the Copa but I do not choose.

"I have an obligation to work to the fullest and pursue all possible targets. And this team is as capable of winning the Copa and finishing third [in La Liga]. We give our best in every competition."

Sevilla have lost their last four league games and will welcome the return of Frederic Kanoute.

Deportivo are fifth in La Liga, one place above tomorrow's opponents, but their 3-1 victory last time out against Athletic Bilbao was overshadowed by the loss of defender Filipe.

The Brazilian broke his ankle scoring his side's first goal and will now miss the rest of the season as well as the World Cup.

Elsewhere, fourth-placed Mallorca must overcome a one-goal deficit when they host Getafe who hold a 2-1 lead after the first leg.

Mallorca were in a similar position in the previous round when they rallied to beat Rayo Vallecano but their home defeat last week was a shock considering they have won all nine of their home league games.

Mid-table pair Osasuna and Racing Santander meet with the former holding a 2-1 lead while on Thursday Celta Vigo host Atletico Madrid with the match all-square at 1-1.
