Guardiola: Pedro must just wait
Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola believes talented youngster Pedro still has some work to do before he can replace teammate Thierry Henry.
Henry has often struggled to reproduce the dazzling form he showed for Premier League outfit Arsenal since moving to Barca in 2007.
With Pedro waiting in the wings, many are saying that the Tenerife-born ace is an ideal replacement for Henry, but Guardiola is adamant that the 22-year-old - who recently became the first player to score in six competitions in a single season - must bide his time.
"He's still quite a few steps ahead of Pedro," Guardiola declared ahead of Saturday's La Liga clash with Getafe.
"I have great faith in Titi [Henry] and I hope he will recover his best form," he added.
Guardiola's comments came hot on the heels of a statement from Pedro which reinforced the forward's determination to play first team football for Barca.
"I train every day to be a starter," he told Spanish newspaper Sport.
"I don't train to be on the bench. I am around to see the openings and I must learn and exploit those opportunities," he added.
