Real Zaragoza vs Sevilla Preview

Federico Fazio is hoping to play some part for Sevilla in their La Liga clash at Real Zaragoza tomorrow.

The 22-year-old has been out of action for five months because of an ankle injury and was on the verge of a comeback in the midweek Copa del Rey game against Getafe.

Now he has told coach Manolo Jimenez he is ready to play.

"I trained normally and I am available when needed," the Argentina defender told www.sevillafc.es.

"The decision is his. I'm very happy to return to the team and hopefully I do everything I haven't been able to by the end of season.

"I'm very happy to be back to work after so long, and most importantly, because the ankle injury is going very well."

Wednesday's 2-0 semi-final first-leg win means Sevilla, fourth in La Liga, remain active on three fronts, with a Champions League last-16 clash with CSKA Moscow on the horizon.

"It's important that we move forward in all three competitions," said Fazio.

"We don't have a foot in the final, a 2-0 lead is very tricky, so we cannot rely on that.

"We must give everything next Wednesday, keeping a clean sheet and trying to get a goal, which would be an important advantage.

"But first is Sunday's game against Zaragoza, and then I'll think about Getafe.

"The good thing is that then the final is not until May, so we can focus on the Champions League and the league."

Sevilla have recovered following a worrying blip in form recently which saw the club lose four matches in a row.

The Andalusians are back on track in the league, having won their last two matches to move back into fourth place.

Luis Fabiano tweaked a muscle against Getafe but is expected to be fit tomorrow.

Tom De Mul is sidelined, but Jimenez should have an otherwise full-strength side to choose from with the return of Fazio.

Zaragoza secured a much-needed win at fellow strugglers Tenerife last weekend.

The deserved 3-1 success was the first for new coach Jose Aurelio Gay, following a miserable start to his tenure.

Gay failed to win any of his first five matches in charge and Zaragoza dropped to 19th place, but last weekend's win moved the Aragonese outfit up a spot.

Zaragoza are now just a point behind 17th-placed Valladolid ahead of their clash with Sevilla.

Angel Lafita misses out through suspension, but deadline day signing Edmilson could make his debut.

Zaragoza, who have the worst defensive record in the top flight, have lost three of their last four La Liga games against Sevilla, but have a good record against the Andalusians.
