Xerez keeper Renan hopes his side can spring a surprise on Real Madrid when the Blancos come visiting.

It's a match between two sides on the opposite ends of the La Liga table. 

Madrid are placed second behind Barcelona while Xerez are right at the bottom with a meagre 11 points from 21 games. Renan however, is not fazed by the yawning gulf.

"We are playing at home and so we must go for it all. We must go into the game with the idea to surprise them and win," he told the club's official website.

"It is a very important game for us. We respect our opponent, but we have to fight for three points."

Outlining the team's strategy, Renan said that Xerez would have to take risks if they were to get anything from the game.

"We have to defend well and play football and get the ball forward. We have to take risks if we want to win. The closer we are to their goal, the more likely we will get a positive result."
