Ferguson still considering Benzema
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is considering whether to make a second attempt to sign Karim Benzema.
The United manager had tried to sign the Frenchman last summer after the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo, but Benzema chose to go to the Santiago Bernabeu instead.
However, after a lacklustre season it is reported that Benzema is unsettled at Real Madrid and may be open to a move to the Premier League, where it is thought his playing style might suit better compared to the slower, more technical approach in La Liga.
New manager Jose Mourinho is still deciding how Benzema fits into his plans, and if he decides to sell the Frenchman, Ferguson will act quickly to snap him up, according to the Daily Star.
The Old Trafford manager insisted last week he would not be making any more signings and is content with his current crop. Yet United's sources have confirmed that, ideally, Ferguson would like to add another attacking option to his squad.
The United chief already has Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen, new signing Javier Hernandez and Federico Macheda at his disposal, but feels Benzema would be a useful addition.
Benzema was disappointing during his first season in La Liga, where he scored just eight times in 27 matches and missed out on inclusion in the French World Cup 2010 squad.
He has also been involved in off-field scandals, but remains one of the most exciting and sought-after talents in Europe.
