Senna honoured by Barca link
Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna is pleased with the rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona.
However, he admits there is no concrete offer from the Catalans.
Senna, who rose to global prominence with his stunning displays in Spain's Euro 2008 triumph but missed out on the World Cup win, has been an integral part of the Yellow Submarine for eight years.
Now the veteran is angling for a move to a bigger club at which to see out the final years of his career.
In comments reported by El Mundo Deportivo, he said: "It is my honour and a dream that Barca think of me" but "for now there is nothing.''
Senna's agent Eli Coimbra believes Villarreal would not stand in the way if the player desired a move elsewhere.
"I'm sure that if Barca talks with Villarreal, the officials shall not obstruct the exit,'' he said.
''In these eight years, Senna never had any problems at the club, in contrast, has always been very professional and to go to Barca would be a unique opportunity.''
With the likes of Sergi Busquets growing in stature with every passing Barcelona game though, it is difficult to see the La Liga club signing the 34-year-old even on a short term contract.
Villarreal face Tottenham in a friendly to be played at White Hart Lane on Thursday and Barca president Sandro Rosell is reportedly planning to travel to north London to speak to both Senna and their main summer target, Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas.
With Mexico defender Rafael Marquez set to depart to join the New York Red Bulls in the next few days, Barca will lose another player able to cover in central midfield and the Catalans look set to bring in two new footballers in that position.
If Marquez's exit is confirmed, it will bring an end to the 31-year-old's seven years at the Nou Camp and leave squad number four vacant.
That was the number immortalised by current coach Pep Guardiola in the 1990s and is expected to be held back for Fabregas, who has admitted he idolised the stylish midfielder as a youngster.
