Maicon's agent rages at Real Madrid
Maicon's convoluted transfer to Real Madrid has taken yet another twist, with the player's agent hitting out at Real.
Inter Milan full-back Maicon has repeatedly expressed his desire to join Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.
With the Portuguese also confirming he would like to see Maicon at the Bernabeu, it seemed like the deal would be a cinch for the two clubs.
However, disagreements over the transfer fee and the player's salary have proved to be major stumbling blocks. AS reports the Italian club has agreed to reduce the asking price to €28 million, but Maicon wants wages in the region of €7 million per annum.
Real are not willing to meet the latter.
After emerging from a fruitless meeting with the Spanish club, Maicon's agent Antonio Caliendo told Eurosport: "His stay at Inter is a very concrete hypothesis, seeing that he is very happy in Milan. Anyway I am very angry with Real Madrid's behaviour towards us.
"If you want to make a certain investment in a player, you also need to make sacrifices as far as the contract is concerned," Caliendo continued.
"In any case there will be a development this week."
Any development will come as a relief not just to Maicon but to his fans as well, given how tiresome this saga has become.
