Ajax Amsterdam defender Jan Vertonghen has attracted admirers for his performances for the Dutch side.

According to reports from the Guardian, Pep Guardiola is looking at bulking up his defence and is interested in bringing in Vertonghen during the winter transfer window.

However, he will have to fend off competition from Premier League sides Everton and Arsenal, who also have an interest in the 23-year-old, as well as Juventus from Serie A.

It may not be as easy to nab the player though, as he still has three years left on his current deal with the Dutch giants.

Vertonghen has hit the back of the net ten times in 97 appearances in the Dutch Eredivisie, and the Belgian player is also a mainstay in his national side.
