Ruud: Real will sign Ronaldo

Van Nistelrooy wants to see Cristiano Ronaldo in Real Madrid colours next season.

A day after club president Ramon Calderon conceded the signing of the Manchester United star would be impossible, former Red Devil Van Nistelrooy told Spanish newspaper Marca that Ronaldo would be a great signing for the Primera Liga winners.

He said: "He'd be an important signing for Madrid because this is a club which signs the best players in the world, and that's what Cristiano is."

He added: "Cristiano could bring a lot of things to this club. He's young, he has everything and a long sporting career ahead of him. For Madrid he would be a great signing."

The 31-year-old also praised his Holland team-mate Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who is another player being linked with a summer move to the Spanish capital.

"He has scored a load of goals in Holland," Van Nistelrooy added.

"He's your typical number nine, he's got the lot. Good with his head, with both feet. He has a great future outside of Holland."
