Valencia: No bids for star pair

Valencia sporting director Juan Sanchez claims that the club has yet to receive any bids for David Villa and David Silva.

Spain striker Villa has been linked to a host of top clubs across Europe, including Chelsea, while midfielder Silva is reportedly attracting interest from Barcelona.

But Sanchez insists that "until now" the club has not received any bid for either player, saying on Catalan radio station RAC 1 on Sunday: "At the moment there's plenty of speculation but I can assure you that, at least up until now, we have not officially received any offer from Barca for either Silva or Villa."

He added: "Right now these players are ours and we're not planning for their departure.

"They are two footballers who have given a lot to Valencia and we hope they'll be giving us even more.

"But we don't know what their future may be."

Both Silva and Villa are currently away with the Spain squad at Euro 2008, where they are expected to be receiving plenty of attention from the scouts of Europe's top sides.

When asked if a good performance from the pair in Austria and Switzerland may lead to an influx of offers, Sanchez said: "You never know.

"All I can say is that we haven't had any offers for these two players. In principal we're counting on them for next season."
