Alonso wants La Liga, Champions League
Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso wants the club to win both the La Liga and Champions League this season.
Speaking to realmadrid.com, the Spaniard revealed that the seven point advantage they hold over rivals Barcelona is not something the players keep on their minds.
"We're not obsessed about the difference in points between us and Barcelona." he said.
"We shouldn't change the way we do things. We must go little by little and win each game in the coming weeks,"
Despite having won a Champions League medal during his time at English giants Liverpool, Alonso remains just as eager to lift the trophy once more for the Los Blancos.
"I love both La Liga and the Champions League. I've never won the Spanish league and I'd like to, but the Champions League has a special attraction. It's impossible to choose between the two." the midfielder shared.
According to him, the team are focused on the task at hand, in spite of swirling rumours regarding manager Jose Mourinho's possible departure from the club.
"The coach hasn't said anything regarding the rumours of his leaving the club. We're all focusing on what's at stake, which is very important." Alonso said.
"We always have the same style regardless of opponents and of whom makes the starting line-up. The manager makes us go all out for the three points, controlling our moves and telling us what to do."
Real Madrid will look to extend their lead at the top of the La Liga table when they host Levante this weekend.
