Barca set to move for Villa
Spanish Striker David Villa is on red-hot form for Spain at Euro 2008 and is a major target for many European clubs.
Catalan giants Barcelona appear to be leading the hunt and are reported to be preparing a massive 62 million dollar move for the striker, which is the amount Villa's current club Valencia have asked for.
Valencia are supposedly looking to curb a major economic downturn and several players could leave the Mestalla to help finance a recovery.
Villa is using the European Championship to demonstrate his skills and so far, has done a fine job, scoring a hat-trick in Spain's opening game against Russia.
Valencia have taken full advantage of the striker's performances, and have bumped up his price tag to the current 62 million dollar mark.
Complicating the offer for Barca, bitter rivals Real Madrid are also interested in Villa, who is said to be Real's second choice transfer after Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.
Barcelona are looking to shake things up in attack, with Samuel Eto'o looking set to leave the Camp Nou. A tried and tested replacement such as Villa would be a welcome addition to the Catalan's new attack.
Barcelona's directors are looking carefully at the current situation, with no decisions reported thus far. The club is reported to be interested in offloading a player before making any moves for new personnel to ensure they have the financial means to do so.
