Racing appoint Muniz as manager
Juan Ramon Lopez Muniz was today officially appointed manager of Spanish side Racing Santander.
Muniz was previously manager of Malaga and played a crucial part in the side's return to the Primera Liga, which came after a 2-1 win over Tenerife in the Segunda division on Sunday.
Malaga's promotion sees them return to the top flight of Spanish domestic football after a two-year absence.
Racing's President Francisco Pernia announced that Muniz's success with Malaga was a major factor in his appointment at the Cantabria-based club.
Remarkably, 39-year-old Muniz has also previously managed both the other clubs that won promotion from the Segunda division this season; Numancia and Sporting de Gijon.
