Valencia coach shows door to Albelda

Valencia coach discards Albelda

New Valencia coach Unai Emery has revealed he wants veteran midfielder David Albelda to find himself another club.

The 30-year-old has been out of the Valencia first team since early last season after being dropped by former coach Ronald Koeman, along with team-mates Santiago Canizares and Miguel Angel Angulo.

Last month reports in Spain suggested Chelsea were interested in the former Spain international's services, but as yet no deal has been reached with any club.

Emery and his staff, who took over from stand-in coach Salvador Gonzalez 'Voro' at the end of last season, initially told Albelda he would be in their plans for the coming year.

However, after just one week of pre-season training the new coach seems to have had a change of heart.

"There have been unpleasant situations which occurred quite recently," Emery revealed in Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo.

"Sometimes you think that the best thing for everybody, for everybody, is for David to look for a way out (of Valencia) and find himself a place somewhere else."
