Roma want Atletico's Reyes

Jose Antonio Reyes may be on his way to Italy, with Roma stepping up their interest in the Atletico Madrid player.

Javier Aquirre, the Atletico coach, has reportedly told the 24-year-old that his services are not required at the Vincente Calderon.

He seems to be keeping his word as well, with Reyes receiving very little playing time in the club's pre-season tour of Mexico.

The former Arsenal player is not interested in leaving Atletico, although he is considering moves that would see him playing regular first-team football.

The Roma management are admirers of the Spaniard, and reportedly put together a bid for the player during the winter transfer window, an offer which Reyes turned down at the time.

However, now that Reyes looks unlikely to play a major part next season, he may feel it is time for a change of scenery.

If Reyes does decide to move, Roma will be his fifth club in six seasons.
