New Valencia president Vicente Soriano insists star players David Villa and David Silva will not leave the club.

The Spanish businessman bought the majority share package of the Primera Liga outfit from outgoing president Juan Soler on Thursday evening before taking over his new role after the club's administration council on Friday.

Soriano confirmed that coach Unai Emery will continue in charge of Los Che and that he has no intention to sell Spain internationals Villa and Silva, both of whom have reportedly been attracting interest from clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea and Internazionale.

"I refuse to sell any essential player from this squad," Soriano told Spanish newspaper AS on Saturday.

"Those clubs can keep their hands in their pockets. Valencia is not a spot for fishing where clubs can come and take our players.

"I assure you no star players are leaving here. Very soon we will be back among the elite in Europe."

Soriano takes over a club who suffered problems both on and off the field last term.

The club are reported to have debts in the region of 400million euros (US$627 million) due to their early exit from the Champions League last season, combined with the costs of building a new stadium and the compensation paid to former boss Ronald Koeman.

However, the new president claims the club's financial problems are not as dramatic as reports suggest.

"The situation is not, at the moment, hard. It's not true that we are 439millon euros (US$688 million) in debt," he said.

"We are working on two operations that would see 650million euros (US$1.02 billion) invested into the club shortly."
