Crespo not joining Lazio

Hernan Crespo’s move to Lazio has collapsed with the Argentina striker unlikely to join the Biancocelesti this season.

Lazio were close to sealing the seal for Crespo after Lazo chief Claudio Lotito admitted that negotiations were underway and Inter Milan had planned to offload the former Chelsea man.

However, the deal is reportedly off after talks collapsed due to Crespo's wage demands and a transfer fee that both Lazio and Inter could not agree on.

Rumours have been swirling that the deal-breaker was Lotito, as the Nerazzurri were more than happy to let Crespo go, with Inter boss Jose Mourinho having a glut of forwards at the club with the likes of Adriano, Julio Cruz, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Suazo.

It is said that the Lazio president has budget constraints and is not going to dig deep into Lazio's wallet to land the Argentine.

That said, Tomasso Rocchi's injury in the Olympics has called for Lazio to pursue another striker and the club have shortlisted Albanian Erjon Bogdani on the advice of his veteran compatriot Igli Tare.

The attacker is currently contracted to Chievo, and has made the rounds in the Serie A. The Albanian has played for Siena and Reggina, and had his best season to date with Hellas Verona in the Serie B where he scored 17 times.

It is believed that it will take US$4.4 to US$5.9 million to prise Bogdani from Chievo's grasp.
