Mourinho livid over Vieira injury

Jose Mourinho is unhappy after Patrick Vieira once again returned injured from international duty with France.

Vieira has battled injury problems since his move from Juventus in 2006, but the former Arsenal midfielder seemed to be back to his best shortly before Les Bleus' World Cup qualifier against Romania.

However, to Inter Milan coach Mourinho's disappointment the 32-year-old limped out of the game with a calf problem.

"He's a bit better but he still can't play," he said. "I had French players also at Chelsea and the story was the same.

"Either they returned from their national team injured or they became so after a few days.

"I'm worried about losing Vieira again for a few weeks. France's next competitive game is in 2009 and seeing as the player has always had problems when he's gone there the most logical thing would be to leave him to work with the club and recall him in 2009.

"But I bet that for this friendly in November (against Uruguay) he will be called up.

"When I arrived here Vieira was injured because of the national team, then he returned and played very well - he played four consecutive games for the first time in several years, he was playing really well. Then he got injured again and now he's out."

Mourinho was more happy with David Beckham's proposed loan move to AC Milan, claiming he would be delighted if the deal goes through.

The England international is in talks with the Serie A club over a possible short-term loan switch from the Los Angeles Galaxy, starting in January, during the American league's close season.

Beckham never played against Mourinho's Chelsea and the Portuguese coach insists he is looking forward to facing him in Serie A.

"We never met in England because when I arrived at Chelsea he went to Real Madrid," said Mourinho. "However, if I had to meet him at Milan it would be a pleasure to meet him because he is a very polite and calm lad,

"And he's also a great player. If he came I would be happy."

Beckham's proposed switch had caused as much consternation as delight in Milan with suggestions in some quarters it was more a marketing ploy than for footballing reasons.

However, Mourinho refused to add to the ongoing argument about whether it is a good deal for Carlo Ancelotti's side.

"It's not my problem whether this choice goes well for him or if Carlo will be happy or not," he continued. "I think about Milan only twice a year, or maybe three or four if we play against each other in the Coppa Italia.

"It doesn't make a difference to me what significance Milan's transfer policy has for them.

"I am Inter coach and that's it, I don't want to be anything more."
