Zamparini angered by Gilardino goal

Palermo resident Maurizio Zamparini want Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino to be punished for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Gilardino used his arm to score Fiorentina's opening goal in their 3-1 win over Palermo on Sunday. The referee awarded the goal, much to the dismay of the Palermo players and the club president.

"The football world should expect the TV replay to be used to punish an unsportsmanlike gesture," Zamparini said.

"What really annoyed me was Gilardino's comments after the game. He gave a TV interview where he told lies," he added.

"Having touched the ball with his arm, he looked at the referee and then he celebrated. He knew he got away with it."

Gilardino admitted after the game he touched the ball with his arm but said it was an involuntary action.

"I got a knock on my back from a Palermo player and while I was falling down the ball hit my arm," he said. "If it had not been a goal then it should have been a penalty."

Gilardino, who is the top scorer in Serie A with seven goals, could face disciplinary action.
