Quaresma handed unwanted award

Ricardo Quaresma has been voted the worst player of the month by listeners of a local radio station in Italy.

The Inter winger took over the mantle from Adriano as the holder of the dreaded Bidone d'Oro - Golden Bin - award.

It's given to the player who has been the biggest flop of the month.

The 'prize' is voted for by listeners on Rai Radio 2 and has been going for six years.

Adriano received the most votes for the last two editions, but Quaresma is this year's victim after an underwhelming start to life in Italy.

Quaresma received 17 per cent of the vote and beat former winner Christian Vieri by seven per cent.

Adriano was third, followed by a trio of Milan players - Ronaldo, Nelson Dida and Andriy Shevchenko.

Simone Loria of Roma was seventh, ex-Inter man Alvaro Recoba was eighth, Juventus outcast Tiago Mendes ninth and Cagliari failure Joaquin Larrivey made up the top 10.
