Juve table bid for Defoe

Juve table bid for Defoe

Claudio Ranieri's Juventus side have tabled a bid for the services of Portsmouth's England striker Jermain Defoe.

The Daily Mirror reported that The Bianconeri have a US$27.2m bid on the table for the 26-year-old in reaction to Tottenham Hotspur's latest bid.

Juve manager Claudio Ranieri who spent time with Chelsea in England has always spoken about wanting to bring some of the best English footballers to the Serie A and Defoe may be the second Englishman to play in Italy this season after David Beckham.

Defoe who only joined Portsmouth back in 2007 favours a return to White Hart Lane to play under mentor, Harry Redknapp but with Juve currently challenging for top honours on the domestic and European front, the offer might just be enough to sway the player towards the Bianconeri.
