Jose refutes Jenas claims

Jose Mourinho has denied reports linking him with a 10 million pound swoop for Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas.

The former Chelsea boss has blamed his pre-season fantasy football selections for a national newspaper for starting such rumours.

The reports linking Mourinho with a bid for Jenas were greeted with surprise, especially as the England midfielder has struggled to get into the Spurs team of late.

And White Hart Lane manager Harry Redknapp responded to the rumours by stating that the 25-year-old was not for sale.

Mourinho said: "Last July the Daily Telegraph started their fantasy football league and paid me to take part.

"In my squad I put Jenas and others. Six months later the market re-opens and it comes out I like these players.

"I like them, otherwise I wouldn't have put them in my squad, but that's a transfer market without rules.

"It seems to me that someone wants a player from Inter and seeing that they know I like another player, they've brought out this story."
